Heat Hardwood

In my kitchen the floor gets very cold so I was thinking that I could heat it from below in the crawl space. It's real wood and it's new! So I don't really want to rip it all out! Any ideas

Rather than heating it, which could cause major warpage, you may want to insulate it well between the joists. Having just spent the last three days in a wet 15" high crawl space fixing a sewer leak, I now know why they are called "crawl spaces", but it should be possible. You also may want to close any foundation vents during the winter while the temp is below freezing, to conserve some heat.

Read up on something called "staple-up radiant".

You shouldn't have to get the floor hot enough to cause any damage, although some flooring manufacturers are funny about using their products like this.

Note that this is not a diy project.

ZZip7, What kind of heating system do you have in your house? Forced air? Hot water? Electric? Thiis would help those that might have suggestions.
