How about running a promotion to accessorize your TS?

When someone comes to the RIDGID website to register their new TS _AND_ they do so within 30 days of purchase then give them a 15% off discount (and/or free shipping) for any listed accessories for the TS-3650. Items like (but not limited to) ZCIs, Dado Throat Plates, a set of push sticks, maybe also offer a printable coupon during registration for a 10% discount on 10" RIDGID blades purchased at their local HD or make the purchase of RIDGID 10" saw blades 15% off _ONLY IF_ purchased at the same time as the saw. For those saws that are already shipped out to stores on in the warehouse just slap a sticker on the box like has been done in the past with other promotions on some cordless power tools.

You (RIDGID) then need to follow through and get those accessories ordered online during registration out to the people in a timely manner.

What does RIDGID realize from this?

You'll find out how many people really want the accessories that HD refuses to stock because they are slow movers. From this you can decide how to proceed and/or maybe just drop some accessories altogether or pressure HD to carry these items.
Will increase sales of the primary item (TS-3650) and optional equipment which customers most times can not find at their local HD and find too frustrating to order online using the current system.
Will drive up sales of RIDGID blades. This will get users familiar with the quality of RIDGID blades and spur repeat sales.To forum members;

If you were looking to buy a TS now, would a promotion like this persuade you or otherwise close the deal for you over any competitors contractor style table saw?

Would you take advantage of the promotions suggested (or similar ones)?

Would a 'buy it now' RIDGID blade promotion as suggested above motivate you to pick up some RIDGID blades at the time you bought your saw over a competitors brand of blades?

In the poll, select (check off) a statement if you AGREE, leave it blank if you disagree or answer no. Poll options are limited to 100 characters so I could not describe as fully what I wanted to say, likewise the poll question is limited to even fewer characters.

Too bad you can't ask multiple questions in a poll and have Yes/No radio buttons for each Q.

Bob, I tried to vote no on all three questions because I seldom if ever let a promotion be the deciding factor when making a tool purchase. A sale yes but a promotion no. When I clicked on the "vote now" box it wouldn't accept my vote because I didn't check(vote yes) at least one box.

If your intention was to show how many would vs wouldn't agree with the three examples you listed then I think the software is lacking the ability to do that. It appears to me that only yes votes are being counted and no votes are ignored.

Your poll is a neat idea though and would provide a good source of info for both HD and Ridgid. I wonder if you could edit it and add the same questions but asking them in a positive/negative style, i.e. I would or I wouldn't......

Hi Dave,

I tried to word my Qs so that a Y/N would work, but I did not think about the possibility of all three Qs receiving a No answer. Unfortunately, the vBulletin software does not allow the originator to alter the questions, even to correct a spelling error. Once you generate the question and the possible answers it is done, doesn't matter if any one has responded yet or not. I can see the logic of not allowing the questions to be altered after votes have been made, because that could skew or totally change the results. You can preview a poll thread but can actually 'test drive' it to see if it functions that way you expect it to. Anyway, maybe RIDGID could pick up on this idea and make it a regular poll question on the company website as they have with other questions.

Thnking back on it I guess I could have had a None of the Above option for those who as Dave said would not be influenced or did not agree with any of the possible choices. My fault for not thinking it through all the way I guess.
