Ok... just for fun. Post an explanation of your Avatar [The picture that displays next to your name when you post]. Some of you have some weird ones that are hard to figure out.

Mine is my ugly mug from when I was in college. Its pretty much been the same for the 6 years the forum has been up.

mine is a custom order pair of shoes for my wife, mrs. seat down. so when i get lost in a hardware store she just asks if anyone has seen the guy on her shoe. the other shoe has a toilet with roses coming out of it and the backs say "i love my plumber"

they were made by my buddies college son.

Until yesterday, mine was a scooter character from a video game (but photochopped the same color as my Vespa LX.) Before that, I had a couple different ones of my '58 MGA. I might have had the WRX on there once, too. Now it is me on my '65 Vespa 180 Super Sport. I like to change 'em up.

On a car forum I'm on, people keep using other member's avatars. *That* gets confusing!

I'm glad OSC explained his, 'cause I was sorta confused about it. ;)

Mine's actually a self-portrait that's become sort of a personal logo over the years. I drew it over 10 years ago using MS Paint and it just sort of stuck with me. A few years back I animated it to use on my website, and that animation later became my standard avatar.

I had longer hair back then... :)

Years ago, I was watching some MTV video and these three gals
were dancing on the edge of the Los Angeles river bed, they were wearing white wigs and the video was filmed in blue sepia tone, I have an interest in photography/old buildings and I went to Los Angeles for the first time, I took the train from San Diego and walked around until my feet had blisters on them, I walked by an old movie theatre
which was converted to a jewelry store and this sweating sleazy guy who was on some type of drug was leaning outside of the store's doors, smoking a cigar and this song was pumping throught the speakers hanging from the marquee, it was odd and surreal, I thought of those gals and that image always stuck in my head. While the original video is no longer available, a different version can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41EwrJ0C5ec

I surf, have since I was three. Dad shaped surfboards and carpentry for a living, hence the interest in woodworking and surfing. Maybe one day I'll satisfy both interests and shape a balsa board. The logon is from the fact that my first car was a RoadRunner.
BTW, the day that photo was taken, the water was 46 and the air was 34. (F)

Mine is a picture of a puzzle I first saw about 20 years ago. There are only two pieces of wood, in my case Ash and Walnut. Both are solid and not cut other than for the dovetails.

I was shown the piece at a woodworking club meeting and it took me about a week to figure it out and make one. Right now I have one sitting on my computer terminal.

Josh
02-28-2007, 02:34 PM
The dovetail is a quarter circle right? Thats my guess. Or does it have 4 sides? If thats the case then its magic.

Josh

smorris
02-28-2007, 08:45 PM
Oh! Oh!, I know. Josh could be right if it is only on two sides, but if all four look the same, I know how!

She is the Commander in Chief of the Canadian armed forces. (not sure many Canucks know that)

I am a big military history nut and have a brother who is a pilot in the Canadian forces so I like to show my support by flying the flag.

Hats off to 'Kevin Smith' on these forums for being the only one in five years of my internet bulletin board career to "get" it.:)

However, Josh, Newman gotta say I'm a Sig fan myself, but I recently purchased one of S&W's M&P .40 and I absolutely love it. They recently came out with a .45 version. Thinking about one of those now. Bigger is better. Not to mention their M&P 15's. Love those too, but not sure I can part with that kinda cash. Rather spend it on Ridgid tools.

ToUtahNow

Wow Jesse James was so close yet so far away. The owner owns a Jesse James custom bike but that bike was wrecked and in Florida. This bike is sitting at Gladstone’s restaurant on PCH in Malibu, California.

The unique part of this bike is its enormous size. If you look at the distance between the front cylinder and the down tubes (front of the frame) you will see a gapping hole. That is not suppose to be there but is there because the frame is stretched. Now look at the bottom of the photo to see how far out the front controls are. This is a custom built Titan which was built for 7’1” Shaquille O’Neal.

Although Shaq loves attention he cannot ride alone because of the attention he gets. He is friends with my middle son so when he wants to ride we sometimes go along to keep him company. My guess is Josh is the tallest one among us and even Josh could not sit on the seat of that bike with his feet on the controls.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A woman who competed in a radio station’s contest to see how much water she could drink without going to the bathroom died of water intoxication, the coroner’s office said Saturday.
Jennifer Strange, 28, was found dead Friday in her suburban Rancho Cordova home hours after taking part in the “Hold Your Wee for a Wii” contest in which KDND 107.9 promised a Nintendo Wii video game system for the winner.
“She said to one of our supervisors that she was on her way home and her head was hurting her real bad,” said Laura Rios, one of Strange’s co-workers at Radiological Associates of Sacramento. “She was crying and that was the last that anyone had heard from her

KDND should be ordered (court order) to go off the air for holding such a contest. At minimum they should be made to pay all final expences for the funeral, burial and all legal fees of Jennifer and a hefty fine to her family.:(

People must not go doing stupid things like holding off taking a pee. You can rupture a kidney or your bladder. I hope the news has a good report on just what happened to this poor young lady that gave her life over a totally stupid radio contest. Everyone would be well advised to talk to a good doctor or a registered nurse about this issue. What you hear-read should scare the **** out of you.:eek::eek:

Proper hydration is a must, but you also must not flood yourself.

I belive safety section is for the plumbing safety only. I'm sure people know. I just wish people wathing news more often and hear about example:young mom full of life ,seing her picture with a smile, her precious kids and another picture of her funeral, those are the stories that should get people think before they do something that is fun and later turn our deadly.

To all the young people out there, think about your family, parens, the worse thing to your parents is to lose their own child,to out-live them.

Think about before you do something that could be fun.And later turn out to be deadly.

I don't know if he got bitten or if he just had a hot spot ..The vet said those 2 things..she said

1) shave the part where he itches
2) give him the injection
3) spray for the home care

When she got back with him she just handed him to me and said all done..they were so busy that id din't have a chance to ask her if he got bit or just a hot spot.

Hot spot..example..he has a normal itch, and then just keeps itching and itching and it gets irritated..and he wont stop itching..that's a hot spot

I personly didn't find any bite but that s also an option...poor thing isn't moving at all..

He will be better..he is my little buttefly:)

Zeljka,

Charlie will learn how to function with his collar on soon enough. I use to raise and train English Springer Spaniels for hunting. I had a female who was extremely hyper and loved tennis balls. She got a foxtail in her spine which got infected and she had to wear a collar so she would not play with her wound where the drain tube came out. At first she could not figure out how to pickup a tennis ball with her collar on. Within the first few hours she learned she could run really fast and scoop the ball in the air with her collar and then catch the ball in her mouth. The wound took several months to heal and she wore out her collars about every two weeks scooping up tennis balls.

LOL-They actually call that area the bowling alley as it is about 50' long and includes three rooms without a divider of any type. The kids were there from digging the basement all the way though the end. I am truely amazed how much they can tell me about building a house. On top of that they saved about $100,000 on the cost of their home.

I was asked for an explanation of the young men in my Avatar. From left to right:

Jon - My youngest son is a California Highway Patrol Officer. He is also a member of the CHP Color Guard and a CHP Training Officer.

Jared - My middle son was a Los Angeles police officer until last month. Jared is now a helicopter pilot flying out to the oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.

Jaysen - My oldest son is an Apache Helicopter pilot in the US Army. With his recent promotion to Major he is now a primary attack helicopter observer/trainer at the National Iraqi Training Center.
