13" thickness planer

i have a 13" ridgid planer. when i use it, it dosn't stay locked where i set it.
i have to use a wood clamp to lock the crank in place. because the slide lock will not hold.
does any one else have this problem?
it is 7 years old.

Take the handles off and clean the parts. Dirt buildup will prevent the lock from going far enough.
