About how old is your oldest still in use pipe threader? While I can't say that it still gets much use, I own an old Erie Tool Works threader that holds 4" square dies and has bushings to guide the pipe. It threads 3/8 - 1 iron pipe. From what I know about it in family history I can pretty safely say it's 75 plus years old. I also have a Ridgid that I need to dig out to get the info from that threads 1-1/4 to 2 NPT and it has to be over 60. Let's see what others come up with for their "Old Timer" threaders.

I bought a Ridgid 65-R off Ebay that had to be 50+ years. It wasn't even painted red  Put some new teeth in it and it cuts like butter. I still use it about once a month. Nothing better for threading in place IMO.

I tossed out my Toledo pancake threader a few years ago. I'm quite sure that thing was threading pipes during WWII.

i'm with you pipestone kid.

you're the winner.

he didn't specify that it had to be a ridgid:D

dan, time to retire that threader and put it in the museum.

with that much threading you do, i would go electric.

look into a ridgid 600, 1/8''- 1.25''.

My Dad bought out his bosses plumbing shop right after WW2. Rigid pipe wrenches from 6" thru an 18" were part of the deal. I have them and have added a 24" and a 36". Found this space while checking on what sizes have been made. Surprised to find a 60" size. Still use all of mine on my hot water boiler and have the old threaders from the 30's/40's. Started working with Dad at 10 years old, handles are smooth from all that work.
