Hi everyone
Spring is here and it,s great to be working back outside again.
This is a birdhouse i started last year but it got put on hold during the winter.
It is made from 120 yr old reclaimed barn wood and has over 80 apartments.

John, these amaze me every time I see them. Now you are going even larger than you used to.
All your neighbors are going to wonder why there are no birds nesting in their yard anymore. ;)
Great job on the Bird Masions

Amazing, John! That's just incredible. So much patience and care is evident in that work. Thank you for sharing.
It looks like the cat is anxious to get some resident snacks in there!! ;)

Pretty amazing stuff John. If I had more land or yard space I would be tempted to put one up for my wife. ;)

Thank you everyone for the nice comments.
Josh
I had the two birdhouses in my avatar that i had to finish from last year.
The other birdhouse is even larger , it is 9 ft wide and 8 1/2 ft high.
It will be done in a week or two.
Since my yard is full i am selling whatever i build now.
My son has been drawing up plans for some of the smaller houses.
We have two plans for sale now on my site.
I have also had 5 articles done since last month including an article in May issue of Canadian Home Workshop magazine.

Those are incredible!
What do you do with them though? Do they hang from a tree? Sit on a pole? Sit on the ground?

My good God...
My house isn't that nice. Those are AWESOME!!! Well done, and you should take a bow for that bit of craftsmanship and engineering. If you took woodshop in high school, your teacher would faint if he saw those!
Excellent work. Thanks for posting the pictures!

Mike

Hi John, went to your web site, and I have to admit I was blown away by your work. I have seen bird houses of that style in magazines every now and then. Cannot remember which magazines, but I wouldn't doubt that it may have been your work. Couple of questions to you, what type of wood do you mainly use and your finish? Also the metal roofing, did you make that your self or is it purchased from some where? Not trying to steal your work, no room and time for me to do something like your doing, just very curious thats all. You also have a nice website, and what is with the woodworking plan site, tell me a little bit about it, is it about your future work or are you selling plans? Your still in the construction stage, I'll put you into my favorites and check your work out every now and then, great job. Who knows, maybe I'll become a fan of your work.
