View Full Version : Project #3: End Grain Cutting Board
I just finished my 3rd wood project, its an end grain cutting board made of rock maple and purple heart. I must confess i am an unoriginal bastard. Its a copy of the one the woodwhisperer made on one of his episodes. Was a fun project. Gave the 3650 a good workout ripping and crosscutting 8/4 stock.

That's really cool looking. I would like to make some of those myself.
How did you glue it up? Did you glue up strip by strip? I guess I'm wondering how you got all the blocks to line up without the whole thing popping apart. I'm confused....
Nice looking project. Those make great gifts!

basically take 2 15" boards, rip them into strips. alternate ph and maple and glue together. then cross cut the board in strips again, turn pieces to expose endgrain and glue up again. Check out the video its toward the middle of the page:

Very nicely done!! I like how the blocks get smaller as they go inwards. A nifty design change might be to make them go smaller on all 4 sides.
Very good work!
