Anyone besides me using SPAX screws?

I usually bought them via mail order, but I recently saw them locally in a display at the local ACE hardware store.

I realize shelf space is a premium at Home Depot and who knows what the politics of the hardware aisle is! I wonder why home depot does not carry SPAX screws or for that matter some of the newer engineered screws and nails etc.???

I use them and like them. HD probably doesn't carry them because there is not as much money in them as there is in the cheap screws they sell.

They are great, use them for just about anything anymore. Cannot get them at Menards either, have to go through the local lumber yard which cost a small fortune. But well worth the extra $$. Same with the newer engineered screws, goes through wood almost like butter. I have been trying to get our local True Value to carry these items (mother in law works there) for 2 years now. Bob the owner is finally breaking down, he said maybe this summer.

Hey garager, take a second look at Menards. All 3 of the Menards here carry a selection of Spax screws.

I will do that BadgerDave, the last time I inquired about those screws has been a couple of months. In fact I need to get some material tomorrow, so I will check on it, thanks for the heads up...

Both of my local HDs carry Spax screws. They have a sizable display section all to themselves, at the end of the screws & nails aisle.

I love 'em. The option to use Phillips or a square drive bit is nice. I have become a real fan of Robertson head screws, especially the trim variety.

And I've never had a Spax head snap off, which is a common problem I've had with Menard's stock screws (made locally in Wisconsin).

Your right BadgerDave, went to Menards and ask a new guy if they have them, he took me right to them. I looked at him and asked them how long have you had them, and he said "for as long as I been here". He has been there for 3 weeks now, but didn't know how long the screws have been in the store. So I bought 10 pounds and other things and then went on my way. Once again thanks for the heads up, I think I saved about $11.00 vs. local lumber yard. And that is $11.00 for my gas tank.
