I plan to build a small "bistro" table with a pedestal base. The base is 4" thick. The feet will extend to 18" and the top will be 24" in diameter, about 30" tall.

I had planned for the top to be 3/4", but compared to bulk of the pedestal the top looks "thin".

Any rule of thumb for proportions out there I can reference?

Thanks.

Mike

maybe you could add a 1 1/2 or so edging around the top to make it look thicker. How thick are the feet?

I believe the ratio is something like 1.618.
Good luck

I made something about those dimensions, it has a 1" thick top. It looks fine, I think 1 1/2" would look too thick.

the pedestal is 3 3/4 by 3 3/4. The legs/supports are 18 " wide by 1 1/14 thick.
