White wash

Is there any painters in here. Whats the best technique for that white wash look? Pine T&G on a ceiling, would it be with a brush on then wipe off w/rag. Or should it be just use a rag for on and off. Semi transparent white stain and should I dilute it more?

I did a small worn area on an oak kitchen floor to match the rest, I used it straight and wiped on and off with a rag. You will need to be careful of your technique with T&G as I found on the floor if you got the rag too wet it would seep into the grooves and was a PITA to remove the excess. If you don't get it out of the grooves you will have a white stripe look.
