M & T Joints

Please educate me, if that is possible. I made a couple of M & T joints on the router today using some scrap 2X4. Just practice, but after the glue set, they are rock solid. I know that using a mortiser or a DP with mortiseing chisels will make a much cleaner slot but is there a problem, or a hazard, with making blind mortises on the router table?
