I'm building a project with drawers out of oak. One of the drawer fronts has a very distinctive grain pattern it with knots and swirles. It also has a small hair-line crack about an 1", maybe 1-1/2" long. I'm afraid of this crack growing as the project ages. How should I seal this crack so it doesn't grow? Currently I have no finish applied to my project (11/28/00).
Thanks for the help.

If the wood is properly seasoned now, you can use Hot Stuff glue to stabilize the crack. Use the thin grade if it is really a hairline crack - apply it from the back and capillary action will pull it into the crack.I regularly use this method on turning projects. It cures in seconds and really holds. Good luck!
