I removed the 3 rods holding my sump pump together to clean and paint the cast iron pump base and when I lifted the pump by the handle, it fell apart dumping all the oil. I now have to replace the oil. Does anyone know what type of oil that was?

last time i rebuilt a pump. i went to the motor shop and they sold me a dielectric oil.

you really need to know how much to install as it's not the entire cavity.

probably worth it to take it to a motor shop for their expertise.

You need a high temperature dielectric oil. This is used for cooling large transformers besides motors. Rick has the idea of trying places that rebuild electric motors.
