Cornfuzed

I climb up into the attic every 2-3 months to put away or retrieve the season's decorations for my spouse (Happy wife, happy life, right?), and I give the area a once over while I'm there to make sure it all looks OK. Well, I noticed this past time that the pex supply line now contains some sort of reddish substance that has permeated into all the lines, but on the hot side only. The cold line is completely normal and clear, but the hot one is turning pink. The only thing I could think is that the copper connection was failing, but would that cause enough, on its own, to make the entire branch pink? What else could it be?
