Making wood curve

I recently had a job that required bending a piece of 1" X 6" X 48" stock into a fairly severe curve. After several attempts, I found the best way was to cut the kerfs in the back of the board at 3/8" seperation, leaving about 1/16" veneer on the surface, then, just prior to bending and final fitting, I soaked the board with boiling water and carefully nailed it in place. This worked very well and the resulting curved frame for the window I was installing looks great!
