Good day

For long time I was looking for some "reference line" to set the Drill Press fence distance easily and accurately and I'm talking about accuracy of a caliper...

The idea came to me from the router table fence setting that I made long time ago.

I used 8mm rod, measured with caliper but, you can use any diameter.
And, because I used 8mm rod I used 4mm drill bits (half the dia) as you will see

And the rest is on the pics

Regards
niki

Niki,

Genius!

You never cease to amaze me! Let me know when you are ready to publish Niki's Woodworking Magazine and I'll be one of the first to sign on for a subscription.

Thank you once again.

Thank you Steve

Well, not exactly genius....it took me 13 years and many "trial and error" till I got this idea :o

Happy New Year

Well, since you're not going to write a book, thank you for posting all these really great ideas! I might just collate all this stuff and put together "Niki's Great Woodworking Ideas, Jigs, and General Helpful Things" pamphlet for people here. Basically, I'd only charge what it costs in ink, paper, and postage.

Or, maybe you could talk to Ridgid about having them publish it with their brand on it. That way, you'd get some $$$ for your time and skills and Ridgid would get a really cool little pamphlet for their customers. It's a perfect match!! ;)

Thank you VASandy

It sounds good deal but, I'm posting them as it's my pleasure to help new comers and amateurs so they'll get the ideas while they are in the starting stages and not like me - after 13 years...

Oh yea, there is another reason for me posting...I read it somewhere:

"If you know something and did not tell others, it's like you never knew it"...

Happy New Year

Well then, let me just say that as a starting-out woodworker, your tips and ideas are invaluable. Thank you!

Niki, thanks for the info! I would like to know what that arm is in pic # 23...the arm that is holding the work to the fence.
Thanks....I love reading your tips!

Thank you

Good eye for a detail...
That arm belongs to another post (there are already too many pics here) so look for "Drill-Press - holding small parts" post
