resurfacing concrete garage floor

My concrete garage floor is quite pitted and rough likely caused by the salt from the previous owner's car. I am moving all of my tools into the garage and setting up my workshop and would like to make the garage floor smooth so I can move the tools around on casters, and it will be easier to sweep up and keep clean. So my question is, how do I first fill in the rough pitted concrete surface and then what would you recommend as a top coat (epoxy, paint, etc)? Thanks, Andrew

I like the idea of a surface skim coat of one of the self leveling concrete products out there, then an organic (soy based) concrete stain with a sealer on top of that.
Cool thing about that method is that the concrete is permanently stained by chemical reaction with the concrete itself.
It is damn near forever and only requires you to seal the high traffic areas every several years or so.
And to top it all off you can make it look like marble or other exotic stone if you want to or just go with a solid color, any color you desire.
