First welcome to the forum. Because many States including Alabama have already adopted the 2006 IPC you may want to check on eBay. A lot of people sell their Code books once they are out-dated.

How often do they update IPC.Last year we bought our UPC 2007's to be enforced in 2008.

They are 3-year Code cycles for both the Uniform and the International Codes. Keep in mind your 2007 California UPC is really the 2006 IAPMO UPC. However, as California never adopted the 2003 UPC the 2006 IAPMO UPC will be replacing the 2000 IAPMO UPCin California.

Thanks everyone, I am a 49 year old who is getting a late start I am to test for the journeyman plumbers test in Feb. in Alabama. I was told to get the 2003 book. What would be the difference in years. Although I been doing plumbing & electricial for over 20 years I have been cutting myself short by not being certified I guess.

You need to check to see which year the test is based on. The differences are minor but you don't want to miss an answer due to a change. You also should find out if there were any State amendments to the code you are testing on.

Study everything but backflow preventers and DWV sizing were the 2 big things on the test. PM me for any specifics, took the test yesterday.

gear junkie I surely appreciate that. I also got me a Dewalt licensing test guide. I am to take it on Feb. 23 2008.
