"Future Use" circuit a code violation ?

In plumbing you can have an unused branch drain as long as it is short in length. Would it be OK to install an extra ceiling box & switch and have the wireing in place but NOT connected in the junction box?
Not a big deal - I've just always wondered if OK or not. Reason would just be to have a ceiling box ready for a chandeleir that your wife's not sure if she wants or not. Thanks.

I can't imagine why not, so long as all the wires are capped off. What makes that any different than having a light fixture there with the switch turned off?

The wires would have to have wire nuts on them. It's not gonna be a junction box in the ceiling so your good to go with covering it up.
