I'm in the market for planer and would like some opinions on the Ridgid planer. I was looking at one at HD and thought it looked ok. Any negatives with this product.

The Ridgid 1300 model has been around for quite some time and has earned a rather good reputation. The new R4330 which was introduced last fall, replaces it. The R4330 offers a 3-blade cutter head, a redesigned dust/chip collection tube, and a 4-screw adjustment design that is said to eliminate the need for a cutter-head lock. In my opinion, the verdict is still out on this new model. If you do a search on either model, you'll find quite a few posts. I also suggest that you do a "Google" search where you'll find more information, including some product reviews.
