I heard that HD was clearing out their inventory of Bosch 4100s so I stopped by a store in Lemon Grove, CA this morning to check it out. True, but they only had them marked down from $629 to $599, not much of a clearance. After taking a closer look at the two saws side by side I understand why HD is eliminating the Bosch. The Ridgid and Bosch seem so close in features that it's hard to justify the $150 price difference. Or am I missing something? Both have about the same size top, t-slots, folding stands, etc. Granted the blade guard assembly seems nice on the Bosch but is that feature alone worth the price difference. On the plus side for the Ridgid I like the lower profile when folded, fence, longer warranty and off course, the price. Again, am I missing anything?
BTW, this same store had the Ridgid battery powered kit of 8 mentioned in another thread here. They had about 6 of the them left as of this morning.

Many different Ridgid saws have had quality issues. Most like the table saws though. In many people's opinion, if you are going with any kind of saw (mitre, table, band), if you go with Bosch, they're worth their weight in gold.

Put another way. Here are the pros and cons of each saw as I see it.
Bosch 4100
Pros
Good reviews and reputation
Nice blade guard, anti-kickback pawls and rifing blade
Nice stand that's simple to operate
Blade and attachments don't require a tool to change
Cons
Premium price
Sticks out about 6" more when folded upright
Lesser warranty
Ridgid TS2400LS
Pros
Good reviews and reputation
Nice stand
Better warranty
Price is at least $150 less
Fence seems more substantial than the Bosch
Cons
Stand is not as easy to operate
Doesn't seem to be put together as well as the Bosch
Blade guard is not nearly as nice as the Bosch
Anyone care to add anything?
