Last week I was on here thinking through buying the 60. I bought the 60. Have used it twice so far. Will ask a few questions about it in another thread.
But for now, Q about 7500, which I've been running along with a 3800 for ten years, and which will be on standby for the stuff requiring a 7500/1500. Have always had the 5/8 cable in the 7500. I'll use the 60 as much as possible, but I seem to recall, Rick, you comparing the 7500 with 5/8 to the 60. So now that I have a 60, I'm wondering if I should run 3/4 in the 7500.
My Q is: I want to be able to use the 7500 for 3" and not just 4". The catalog recommends 3/4 for 4" and bigger. Curious what others think about running 3/4IC through 3".
And when comparing the 1500 to the 7500, is that really a 7500 with 3/4?
And if 100' of 3/4 weighs about 40 lbs more than 100' of 5/8, is that harder on the motor, or just my back?
And if I get the 3/4, I'm going to buy it in 25' sections--and just replace the 25' section when I kink it. A little more expensive to buy in sections initially, but other than that, anyone think that's a bad idea?
Thanks!

:clapping::clapping::ok:

yes you should.

just don't try to run 3/4'' ic through a 3'' trap. 3/4'' will do a very good job on 3'', just not traps.
And when comparing the 1500 to the 7500, is that really a 7500 with 3/4?
yes.
And if 100' of 3/4 weighs about 40 lbs more than 100' of 5/8, is that harder on the motor, or just my back?
just your back, as the machine is designed to spin 200' of cable, or more;)
And if I get the 3/4, I'm going to buy it in 25' sections--and just replace the 25' section when I kink it. A little more expensive to buy in sections initially, but other than that, anyone think that's a bad idea?

not a wise idea for your initial 100' drum. the couplings will not flex as well as the cable does, and will give you a lot more issues. i would go 100' for the drum and then a 25' and 50' for the reserve. this will give you a better choice when additional cable is needed.
although the 7500 is rated to hold 150' of 3/4'', it's tough to stuff it all in without a hang up. if you do, then put the 25' section into the drum first, then the 100' second. this will eliminate the coupling flex.
now lets talk k60.;):D

Rick, I really appreciate your help. Thanks.
sounds good: no traps.
Makes sense about the couplings, but what about sectional cable with couplings every 15'?
Also, what about the couplings between cable and leader, and leader and tool?
So I'll get 3/4 for the 7500. OR . . . I could put the $?700-800? (100' 3/4IC, 3/4 pigtail, 3/4 leader, 50' 3/4IC, 25' 3/4IC) on a 1500A. Any thoughts?

if you already own the 7500, i would stick with it and upgrade to the 3/4'' cable. the 7-8 hundred is pretty steep. a 3/4'' pigtail is not important and the leader is cheap. but then again i noticed you are buying 100', 50' and 25' so the price is decent:D
7-8 hundred towards a 1500 will not even buy the cable.
i'm sure allclear will agree with me here:nanner:

I would use the k60 and use it for a couple months and then decide your purchase based on what your more comfortable with. A 1500 and 7500 will both get the job done but it comes down to personal preference and only you can decide this for yourself.
