tapping into wall switch

can i steal power from a wall switch to power a new non-switched outlet? If so, how?

You would need to pull the switch out of the box and look to see if their is a nuetral in the box. If so then yes you can do it. Basically what you would have to do is tie the white wire of the new wire into the white wires (nuetrals) in the box, then you need to use a meter to figure out which side of the switch is the hot side and which is the switch leg side. Take the hot side and tie it together with the new black wire and also leave a black pigtail hang off of it to reconnect to the switch. Tie your grounds together and you are good to go.
