I read on a wood magazine forum that a new RIDGID bandsaw was displayed at the 2008 Builder's Show.
RIDGID folks...when is this bad boy going to hit the market.
And, when will the new planer reach all of the HD stores...only the old models are here in St. Louis area.

In the past, the introduction of new RIDGID product has been pretty much a trickle down scenario. All HD stores don't receive new product at the same time. Unfortunately, new product will appear on the shelves of your local HD's when it gets there and usually won't be displayed, if at all, until all of the older stock/model has been sold. It could be on the date they announce that the product will be available or 6 months later.

Any news on this yet? I know it has only been a couple months but just thought I would ask.

According to review from this forum, previous Ridgid Bandsaw users did not have a good experience. Hopefully this one will be better.
This one at Serars is made by Rikon and has very good comments.
It has a 1HP motor that accept 110-220V. No tools 2 speeds change, large cast Iron table. Bearing driven blade, 2 Dust Ports 2 1/2" under the Table and 4" at the base.Cast Iron Wheels. Tension guide, and tracking window. Lamp. Mounted on a cabinet.

Boogatoo, I followed your link but couldn't find anywhere in the specs what the maximum resaw height on the Craftsman BS is. Do you happen to know what it is? From just looking at the picture it doesn't appear that it is much over 6" but pictures can be deceiving.

Bottom of the list of features for the Sears BS:
The saw has a 8" resaw capacity
Not bad...sounds like the smaller Rikon or similar.

Question on the Craftsman bandsaw is it's availability. I noticed it was dropped from latest catalog.

I recently got the Craftsman 14" saw and have been very happywith it. I bought it during a Craftsman club event and only paid $422 plus tax. A steal if you ask me since they recently raised the price. For a short time it wasnt even on the Sears website but now its back (at the higher price).
