Help!!

I've been having a very hard time looking for a particular part. Its for an Emerson 7" horizontal bandsaw. One of the gears broke and we need a new one. Problem is is that Emerson doesnt make those anymore and doesn't carry any spare parts. I tried calling around and searching the net and have found nothing. I even called Browning and they dont recognize the part number stamped on the face of the gear. I suppose that Emerson stamped their own identification/part number on it?

I hope to find someone on here that may have a broken saw laying and wouldn't mind selling us this part. I also hope to find ANYONE that could give us advice on where to buy this spare part. I've posted pictures below as a reference.

You might give Martin Sprocket & Gear a call at (817) 258-3000 as they make loads of different gears and have the machinery to do some custom work. The cost might make you back down fast though unless you can work with something that's normal stock for them. Another idea would be to find a large machine shop with a gear hobber and have them custom make a replacement. Again, the cost for such may make you back down fast.

They sound like a big company, I read up on another company called Rush Gears.com, 800-523-2576. They also make gears to order.

ww Granger's so does MSC sells straight cut gears you may be able to get both the drive and driven and change out both, with straight cut gears,


An nother idea would be to use a worm drive gear box for your reduction (that is what my band saw has for a drive and gear reduction) and or jsut use a light chain drive, and sprockets, if you have them run in oil you would hardly ever need to change the chain out, and you being a precision machine shop, I would not think it would be to big of a job to retro fit a gear box or jsut make one from scratch with some sprockets. You could even try another band saw manufacture and see if on could jsut buy a gear box off of the them and then adapt it to your saw. (I do things like that a lot in my small farm machine shop).

Another Idea that come to me is to switch out to a gear motor and then use a set of sprockets and roller chain make a bearing support and and forget about the gear box on the saw.
