check what the return policy is first. no return, no buy:D
now if you need a good locator, i have at least 6 that i can sell you. from old school triangulation to all digital.
i can probably bring some to the round up and show the young guys, how us old guys use to do it:D

They do quite a lot of "dowsing" up in this neck of the woods. They are quite often sucessfull. Thing is, if you check the geological aquafir map, we have water just about anywhere you may choose to drill.

"yep" I had to show my brother one day and then I dug up my own sewer just to take his beer money :D
It`s just one of them things you either got it or you don't. I didn't know how to do the depth till an old guy showed me one day.
I can use any kind of wire or metal piping.
Mine cross when I`m on top and spread when I walk a way. Some peoples go the other way.
When mine stop spreading that's the depth ;)
I think it has something to do with the magnetic pull of the earth and the electricity in our bodys. If you get shocked just getting out of your truck in the winter then you can most likely do it too ;)
I get pissed every time I go to open a door and get the "SNAP".....rotflmao

You use the locater and I`ll do it by Witching :D
I use to lay phone cable and had to do this many times to find the miss marked lines. I`d be digging and digging then I`d stop and find two marker flags and bend em at 90`s and go Witching. Dig one last time and move to the next job site ;)
My theory may be horse$hit as I really don't know how or why it works , that's the best reason I can come up with as most people that get shocked a lot can do it.

Have someone blindfold you, drive you to a site, get out (still blindfolded) and use your wires. Have them mark wherever they cross. Then dig away. If and when you don't find anything don't be like all the other people that claim they can do this saying "must be an aquifer, spring, etc. down deep."

I'll take this bet. Next year's roundup. You find the buried utility and we'll check it with the locator. You need to find 2 lines and there intersection point. If you're within 6" of the locator results, you win, drinks will be on me the entire time we're up there. I win, you pick the food tab for me and dunbar

The Ridgid locating stuff is so right on I can not imagine using anything else. I know Rick has said he can witch as well but I'm not buying it.
Many years ago my partner bought a lot where the previous owner had a hard time finding water. After much research my partner locates a World renown witching expert in London. We paid a fortune to fly him out to the States and entertain him for a week while he witched the property. With his help we were able to add 4 more 400' deep dry holes to the other dry holes we already had on the property.
My money is on Ben.

how did you know I used to ride the short bus!!! My mother always told me it was because where we grew up out under the power lines that the big bus couldnt get out there! I never told you that!? Did I!
But for real Carl, when someone has the touch the can really pinpoint something underground astonishingly well! Just like plumbing there are a lot of hacks out there that claim they can do it and really cannot..... those hacks shall remain nameless

I'll admit I tried 'dowsing' to find a sewer once and....no luck, even after three digs. Yet I can pinpoint a penny in a sewer 10 feet deep with a Ridgid Navigator. Go figure.

Every person I ever encountered that claimed this ability always used the outside input available.
1) The look of the ground. Trench depression etc.
2)Vents.
3)Positions of utilities.
I can get pretty close doing this alot of time without anything in my hands.
It's an interesting psychological thing. They move the wires while believing the wires are moving.
On the other hand, I'd really like it to be proven otherwise consistently. That would be cool to see and know.

I thought it would be neat to see as well but after a ton of money I was not impressed. The guy located every spot I had looked at and said if we have water that is where it will be. I watched the wires move but I can make wires move as well. Now had he been on my place in Utah there is almost not a spot where you won't hit water at 40'.
