This happened to me when I was much younger.
Customer has dripping sayco shower faucet. I install new stems and seats and use plumbers grease. The shower continues to drip. Why?

I have seen this happen when the valve is old or has been dripping so long that the seats don't seal into the valve any more.

it's possible that too much grease will allow the stem to open on it's own:eek:

also teflon tape over the threads interfering with the seat.

cracked/ stripped valved body?.

washer too hard?

lots of different scenarios:D

Darn it, I guess I have to wake up a little earlier to get you guys. Exactly haycad, the water was coming past the threads of the seat. pipe dope and tef tape didn't work though. I had to use rtv silicone to make the seal.

Who's coming up with the next one?

I'll go another direction for the sake of not repeating whats been said...
When you removed the old seats, you forgot to clean out the valve and either brass shavings or debri's interfered with the seals.

One more idea- a cheap chinese made seat not quite up to specs.
