Was the screwdriver dropped down a c/o? If so, you could use a long length of twine,put a slip knot on one end,try and ease loop around screwdriver handle.A piece of pipe,or something similar will most likely be needed to both move the handle away from the pipe wall and to help tighten up the slip knot. There's aslo a chance a shop vac could be used as is or by reducing the hose down in size -may be using duct tape and pvc or other similar pipe or tubing.

a camera will either allow you to fish it out, or probably push it out to a down stream clean out or city main.

i guess it all depends on where it's located and if it's causing an issue.

a jetter will have an easier time to pull it back towards you.

really need more details of the location and if you can actually see it.

If it is int he trap, use a magnetic grabber

if it is further in the drain or sewer, depending ont he size of course, it would have gone down something without a trap, use a seesnake and either a jetter or a cable to push it down.

doubt you want it back.

HI rick, if it is in the trap, a magnetic grabber will get it, it is tuff to keep from sticking fromt he sides, but with patience it can be done.

if it's in the trap, it's a no brainer.

i believe it fell in a cleanout opening.

steve did it right in front of me a couple months back.

i pushed it out to hyperion:D

i once dropped my 9'' torpedo level into an 8'' storm riser.

needless to say, hasta la vista baby:D


the 4 finger pick up tool is great for traps. i pulled a ring from a shower drain last year in the blind.

A retrieval head should be able to catch it. If it's in the (I assume 4") trap, just put your cow gloves on and reach in and grab it.

Is the spot where the screwdriver is accessible cause you could just cut the pipe remove the sd and reconnect the pipe. Make sure you tell everyone not to flush while you are working on the pipes.:D
