Hi All ...
How far up a vent stack can I tie in a drain? In other words, in a project where attic space is being converted to living space, can a bathroom be added with waste drains connected to the vent stack?
Thanks for your thoughts.

What you are proposing is what we refer to as a vertical wet vent.
Sorry BB our UPC down here does not allow us to utilize this from floor to floor.

In Canada you can add a drain right above the snow line.:D That's a joke eh. Don't eat the yellow snow.
Ok really, don't add a drain to the vent stack because as implied the vent stack is a collection of the vents penetrating thru the roof. Add a drain line to the existing drain lines and tie that new drain line's vent in to the vent stack. Might be more work but that's why you need to charge more, that's why plumbers charge a lot.
