Can a 3 " pvc plumbing stack penetrate vertically a load bearing 2 x 6 wall, without destroying the integrity of the wall?

considering it's done all the time. i would say it's an acceptable practice.

you're lucky you have 2x6 (5.5'').
we use to have to do it in a 2x4 "3.5'' wall:eek:

as long as the hole is drilled center of the plates 3.5'' hole will still leave 1'' on both sides. then install steel plate straps on both sides of the plate.

now if it was the wall studs or floor joist, then you would have issues.

I wish every wall was 2 x 6 ....

I had to install 6 body sprays, 3 diverters, a rainfall shower, a shower head, and a pull off shower near a tile seat, in a wrap around circular 2 x 4 wall, all 3 / 4 valves:mad:

can you say swiss cheese:p
