Hello,

A friend a work has a R8411503 hammer drill. The clutch won't turn past 14. He's trying to remove the chuck to take a look at the clutch. We've removed the screw inside the chuck. It the chuck a press fit on the shaft? What is the best way to remove the chuck. If it's a press fit, would something like a pickle fork work?

Thanks,

Kyle

Chucks are standard threaded but they are always very difficult to remove. They are very tight and sometimes might have thread lock. Try loading a large L hex wrench in the chuck and tap the arm with hammer to break the chuck loose.

Velosapien is right on the money! Put the drill in 1st gear, has more resitance. Thie method has worked for me everytime.

Hello,

Your're right, the chuck is threaded on. The problem with the drill is that the clutch is pretty stripped so we can't get any resistance to turn against. It looks like the drill will be going to the service center.

Thanks anyway for your help.
