Can anyone tell me if the motor on theJP0610 is an Emerson. My other question is about how much the knifes on a jointer and a thickness planner are affected by going through knots (ouch!!) in lumber. Thanks.

My wife wanted some aromatic cedar chips so I thought I could be her knight in shining armor and run some through my TP1300. OUCH is right, the boards I had were pretty knotty and of course I was in a rush and didn't take the time to cut the knots out. When I was done the "plate wear" (p/n 827694) looked like I had left it outside in an Oklahoma Spring hailstorm. Not to mention the knifes now provide a decorative line down the length of any board I run through (still gotta fix that).
So in summary, yes it hurts the knifes.

Yes do watch out for thoes knots as they are VERY hard and will mess up the blades.. Sugestion.. offset the blades a little and you will be able to get some more time with then. :D
