Hi Guys,
Yet another rehab; small seasonal cottage by the lake.
We plan on gutting it to the studs; all new electrical.
No heavy loads.......no heat, no hot water, no furnace, no airco, no dryer, no electric stove.............
2 BR's 1 bath and a small combo LR/DA/KIT.
Owner plans on hooking up a 30 foot travel trailer in the driveway for additional guests; looks like 30A for the trailer.
We would like 120/240 for a small attached saw mill; lumber from local trees kind of thing.
Questions.........what size main panel? what size subpanel for the trailer?? and say 30A also for the saw operation??
Thanks,
Chenchen.

Well first of all you need to check your local and state codes. Here in Wisconsin, we can not install anything smaller than a 100 amp service on residential structures.

You also need to know what size is already there or will this be a new service or a service upgrade?

If I were doing it, and it met all local codes I would put a 100 amp service on it. Enough to carry the load now, and enough for when they decide it is time to upgrade to a decent electrical system.

Thanks Jeff,
We figured 100A would be sufficient.
