Hi,

About a week ago my vac started smelling like burning electronics (i was sucking up leaves) so i turned it off and let it be for a bit. After about a half hour I turned it on again same thing instantly. So I took it apart and turned it on with just the motor so I could see if anything was hitting it causing it to smell like that. I turned it on and it started sparking where these two rectangular pieces touch the top spindle to complete the electrical connection. (see pics) I tried everything I could think of I sanded the rough/burnt parts off the rectangle pieces and I sanded the spindle till it was copper again. I turned it on and it did the same thing. Is there a cheap fix for this, or is the vac shot? I would really hate to go spend another $100 dollars on a new vac seeing as how I just got this one last year.

Here are the pics, Thanks.
