plumber rick was right, we jumped the gun after talking to our ridgid rep our machine puts out to much gpm to take full advantage of the root ranger and there is no nozzle upgrade avaliable as it was designed specifically, so if any one is interested in buying a great jetter head used once i have the instruction sheet and the extension for 8" pipe, pm me a contact number and ill make it happen, price 225 + shipping.[live and learn]:)

I might be interested but I need to see this in action at the Roundup next month.

Your earlier posts mentioned how much you loved it, is this still the case?

Did someone confirm the GPM @ ???? pressure

3/8" or 1/4" connection?

yeh i thought it was and still do but after talking with plumber rick and as mentioned earlier and no one caught it my gpm output is 10 and if an upgrade was made i would keep it,using this i would not be able to run my machine at full throttle as it could damage my pump.:( and that defeats the purpose of this head.

ps 1/4" connection and info i received before i bought it was misleading as we were new to the game like i said live and learn the hard way.;)

It sounds like you guys are starting to enter in to some heated negotiations. While it is true we have a "don't ask don't tell" attitude here on the forum I just want to tell you guys I accept you for who you are and just be true to yourselves.

I just spoke to the boss (wife) we'll take it.
I've been thinking about getting one for a while now but like the others I was thinking about seeing it in action at the round up but since we're not going:crying: and I don't want to wait till next year, I better jump on this.

Crack, walking and holding his hand comes with LOTS of responsibility.

You have to have your stupid meter in fine tune. You must sense a stupid thing will come out of his mouth BEFORE it actually does. Then you have to prevent him from saying it.

I find grabbing his nuts is the most effective method. You can use your own method if you find it works better though:p

Good Luck-he is officially your responsibility now:D

Don't put too much into it as they like to walk around the Farmer's Market. There is a place there called Ultimate Nuts. If Rick acts up she takes his bag of nuts away which really upsets him.

The "rootranger / reverse turbo " has evolved, at least here in Oz. The USA will catch on sooner or later. 1/2" models for 30 l/m to 50l/m are appearing on the shelves of jetting outlets

When you say evolved exactly what do you mean? A smaller sleeker design? or better cleaning action?

HOLY CRAP!
I just got the Root Ranger in the mail and put it in a 10' piece of clear PVC. The thing must weigh close to 2lbs so I was thinking, howw the hell is this thing going to pull itself through a pipe with my 3.5 gal jetter? and then BAMM!! it took off like a friggin rocket. I still can't believe the power that thing has. The water was shooting out so damn fast it was creating a vacuum on the other end so I set a 1" rock on the end and it sucked it in and spit it out the other end.
I was pretty bummed about missing the round up but this just made my weekend.
THANK-YOU GREG (AERO1) THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU!!!!
I've been wanting to try the Root Ranger for a while now and at that price I couldn't pass it up.:way-to-go::dance::bow-down:
I can't wait to try it out in the real world. I set one up for Monday A.M. to try it but he might just find me out there at 3:A.M. tonight:D

the slower the rpm, the better the cutting. more cutting, less spraying.

actually the rpm's are quite high, so fast in fact, the camera doesn't pick it all up so the rotary action looks different in person.

then the nozzle is pretty much the same design as what i use for cleaning concrete. makes a big wining noise and moves a lot of air.

remember gene, the nozzle will be touching the roots and have the most impact at the point of contact. also when was the last time we encountered 3'' roots that were dried like a log.

the normal stuff we encounter is alive and soft tissue. not a tree trunk:D

i'm more concerned with it pulling through a 4'' 1/4 bend.

will it do 3'' straight pipe?

rick.

Cuda
06-02-2008, 01:52 AM
Root RAnger
3" Straight = YES
3" With bends = lots of wrestling with the hose to get it running out and same to bring it back.
Since I got my new 3/8 red hose my Warthog just goes out and comes back with ease!

Gene Bickford
06-02-2008, 08:45 AM
Cuda,
Have you noticed any pitting or premature ware on you hose from using the root ranger?

Cuda
06-02-2008, 01:21 PM
No I have not, nothing bad but it does spray only backward so it will shine the hose a little, question do you use the hose directly into the unit or do you use the supplied steel piece for doing 6" lines?

Gene Bickford
06-02-2008, 01:41 PM
Paper says extension is to stabilize in a 6 or 8" line and never go in over 8". I'm thinking this is due to the head turning itself around and shooting back out to you. This is one of the biggest causes for jetting related injury.
To answer your question, Yes, I will be using the extension.
Today was going to be test day but so far we are getting rained out.

Cuda
06-03-2008, 02:14 AM
What size line and what size hose and how long come to mind as they all work hand in hand. The root ranger and your machine size are perfect but then it comes down to the length and pipe size you are doing since you are in Maine your jobs and mine are probably different since I am in the city usually doing short runs to the sewer. I have now increased my hose size to 1/2" to get full flow with my machine at 10 gmp but with my 5gpm machine on 3-4" lines I found 3/8 worked great! and even 1/4" hose did well but it was hard to make loops with to get past bends and offsets.
