My wife uses it for a support group.
It's been a blessing in disguise for her, she has a network of friends across the country with the same trouble she does...she's been able to learn about the latest breakthroughs and treatments for her disability.
It's a closed group.
That has proven to be pretty much the only benefit to MySpace, I opened an account so I could peek in, but to me it's more annoying than anything with a daily plethora of "friend" requests from porn sites, I very seldom log in.

She considered the idea of letting our kid go on, until I pointed out the fact that there isn't a single page on that network that doesn't have a vid clip of a scantily clad female soliciting you to check out her webcam.

Sure, sex sells, but not for a ten year old it won't.

You need to watch America's Most Wanted, 60 Minutes and 20/20 more. MySpace is not a nice place like this forum. While there are good areas too much is the XXX rated crap. Pedophiles use it to pray on teen girls. Some are really experts on the hunt for evil doers.

No, I was'nt callin either of you pedophiles. It's just seems that whenever you hear of some kid that's been kidnapped and molested, my space was involved. I refuse to let either of my kids either have or go on my space. I can see where it has it's merrits (duckbutter) but they really need to do something about all the pervs that lurk on it.

I just wanted a way to keep in touch with some of my friends! A good friend has a myspace set up where she lists all the upcoming music events in and around Berryville. That was my motivation. Then I found OSC! Go figure. A couple other friends popped up that I've kind of lost track of, so it's been pretty neat to catch up.
I swear....it's not about the children!! :p

I have no doubt your part of MySpace is what it should be all about. Sometime if you can find someone with a video camera, try out YouTube. You can show off your creations and talk about them as well. There's some great stuff on there along with *&^%$ people trashing it. What a shame public forums end up that way. The really good and the totally trash all mixed up. What's good is that it's real easy to back out from the foul posts. There are some really great talented people posting on there about all kinds of things. Membership for personal use is FREE but you do have to fill out a basic online application. To just prowl around and see things, it's a wide open door. I love some of the railroad videos from over in England where they brought life back to the scrap yard locomotives. Same with USA railroads. There is loads of good music on there too including good old Irish folk songs. The problem is finding just the right uploads. I did upload a few things to this forum and more is coming. Later, they can be deleted and others added so as not to overload the forum servers here. I think it's great if you can post (anywhere) about special local craft shows, events and more. Also show the actual pieces. Have fun and enjoy. I know we will love seeing it soon

Come on, everything on the internet can be perceived as bad, but there is actually good in most of it. I have met many people and conducted business through myspace. Its almost like having your own website. I channel with family and friends, almost daily. You can set settings for private, if your worried. This isn't about a bad website, its about the media turning it into one. Anyhow, if your up to it, check out my site, I like it too..... Mark

Ten to one, he found a DIY site where his advisory prowess is a wee bit more appreciated.
