Guys,

I am wondering if I can get some opinions on front guide hoses.

Do you use one?

If your machine came with a front guide hose, would you use it?

Anyother feedback will be appreciated!

Thanks Again

Renee

I have a front guide hose for my K-50 and used it a lot in commercial kitchens but not much anywhere else.

I have the k1500 and the k60 niether have front guide hoses . I dont know how easy it would be with a sectional to feed the cables through a rear and front guide hose maybe you are talking about a self feeding machine

the guide hose that comes with the K-50 is at best a joke. Rick had posted a solution but i never followed up on it and can't remember what it was.

other than not being able to get close to the point of entry why would you need a front guide hose"? i'd probably make a snoot from PVC, but i don't know your situation

Guys,

Do you use one? sometimes, I had one for my 3800 and using a 2" pvc pipe is just as effective and easier to use. sometimes the co is 4' from the ground and it was useful for for this.

If your machine came with a front guide hose, would you use it? no

Anyother feedback will be appreciated!

A front guide hose that is designed to be attached to roof vents(like all clear's idea)might be worth looking into.

BTW; bring back the metal lined rear guide for the k50-works much better than the current model.

I like to use the guide hose for the 40 under hard to reach kitchen sink drains, and hard to reach floor drains.

ReneeHi Renee, what i would like is a platform the k-60 would sit on that is about 30" long (possibly hinged to take up less space) with rubber feet that has a 45 degree angle pointing out about 8" that has a detachable quick connect end placed in the upper portion of said 45 for use with a 1 1/4" steel reinforced guide hose about 30" long with a male adapter to fasten to the trap adapter coming from the wall and you would have to make it universal to adapt to both 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" drain lines and flexible enough to hook it up in any position. This would keep the plumber from having 2' + of cable exposed when he is reaching in the cabinet to feed the cable and make it more like going into a floor clean out and lessen the chance of getting tied up in the cable. Just a thought!!

mike, i think you lost me after the first set of numbers:D

remember that a sectional is not typically a self feeding unit. it will wind into a drain and thread back out, but you need to give it some cable to do it.

the front guide hose would have to be spaced away from the machine to allow for handling the cable and allow you to feed it.

think along the lines of the k-1500 board buster set up. you need to have a foot or so of space to work the cable.

i rarely use the rear cable guide.
i doubt i will use the front guide.

if i do, i just reverse the machine and run the motor in reverse, which is actually forward now. and attach the rear guide hose, which is the front now:confused: then you can feed from the other side and let it wind in.

when i had my 7500 in the truck, i would use a modified guide hose since the machine was harder to get close to the opening.

thanks renee for thinking of us sectional guys:way-to-go:

remember we're getting older:eek:

but not any slower.:D

go team geritol, mike, bill, rick;)

LOL Rick,

Renee didn't say anything about sectionals. She must have meant for drum machines :scratchhead:

Obviously I don't need a front guide hose on the K1500 with my speed and agility ;)

Have you seen my video yet Renee? There arn't many women that can appreciate my first place trophy :itsover: Just so everyone knows...I'm going to milk my moment of triumph for a full yearhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bViCcRmSUeE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bViCcRmSUeE)

That was a perfect pick-me-up after a really horrible day :thumbup2:

I do like the idea of a front guide hose on the big drum machines.

We can't get the big drum machines through these tiny English basement bathroom doorways. So we have to use a K1500  to get close to the closet bend. Then it gets crowded. Sewage splatters all over the floors and walls. I'm sick of it.

I would much rather have a drum machine sitting outside the bathroom with a safe clean guide hose off the front.

No fuss no muss

As for the smaller drum machines I've never had an auto feed on mine. There may be a need for it I don't know but for me I like the control I get by pushing the cable in by hand. Yeah it's a pain sometimes reaching under vanity and kitchen cabinets. It might help keep the mess down to a minimum.

Faster Blaster Bill :)Hey Bill, What I was trying to say and what I wanted to say i kind of even confused my self  Here is a quick and bad drawing of what I was trying to get across. It is a lot like the master blaster but with a flexible hose to connect to the trap adapter and long enough to have room to feed in the cable.

mike, i got the picture:eek:

don't quit your day job:D

actually you have the right idea with the bracket assy.

don't think you need the hinge plate unless you're using it for a way of getting the k-60 to sit on a 45 vertical.

also the trap adapter is interesting, but usually you just insert the guide hose into the line.
