I have a friend that has the sump pump discharge going into a cast iron storm
sewer. With all of the rain and sewer backups from last week, we found out that the storm sewer is plugged solid with clay and dirt. Had the sewer guy come out and try to clean it with a sewer machine. I don't know what he used, but could not get it clear. Is it worth it trying to find someone with a jetter to try and clean it, or should I just reroute the drain to grade and cap the storm sewer?

the only way to clean it right is with a jetter ;)
Now keep in mind I would have never said that 12 months back :killingme:

a jetter will have the best chance to wash away the mud and dirt. make sure he uses a properly sized machine. not a toy electric unit.

I agree, Use a jetter. Where are you located in Wisconsin?
I know several drain cleaners up that way, maybe I could give you a referral.
Or, I could come up for a premium:D

I live in Saint Francis, but my friend lives in West Allis. Let me know about the referals. Not to sound stupid but, how does a jetter work? Is it messy, since the drain is in the basement?

Call John Donovan Plumbing.
Ask for John and tell him Jake referred you. (I used to sell sewer equipment to him.) They are about 18 miles from you.
He is an awesome guy and he will do a great job for you.
Here is his number:
262-835-1686
Jetting can be messy if one does not know what he is doing. John will certainly know what he is doing.
Give him a call. Good luck!

Is John Donovan the same guy that opened a Mr Rooter as well? Cause I have his business card on my dresser. He has a blue Dodge Sprinter?

Yes. Last time I spoke to him he had not completely made the switch yet.
