View Full Version : Does Death Come in Three's???

Anybody ever hear the idea of deaths happening in threes?
Old superstition perhaps? Always heard it growing up from the older folk, and dammit if it doesn't seem to come true as far as the famous folk....
Friday we had Bernie Mac, Sunday we had Isaac Hayes.....are we going to get a third famous death? Maybe one already happened on Saturday and I missed it??
Sounds morbid, I know, just curious if anybody else ever heard the superstition/old wives tale/morbid statement....
Weigh in with your thoughts, opinions, both old and otherwise.
And I just realized the title punctuation is incorrect - should be "threes".

Actually sometimes it does happen, but let's think on the brighter side. Maybe just maybe there won't be another until _____ A long time later on.

given the number of people on the planet and the number of deaths that occur i guess you could divide it by 3 or 4 or 16 or pi. and what's to say it's only "famous" folk or related people or whatever? and in who'se 6 degrees of seperation?
my grandmother used to say that. "what's the criteria?" was my question. she'd mumble something about me going to hell. she also changed the rules on Canasta. NEVER play that game with a grandmother. you can not win

I don't know if I am the oldest, but probably close--76. But, don't worry about me passing on-I've decided I am going to live forever--so far, so good!:)

Strange that:
Isaac Hayes, Bernie Mac and Samuel L Jackson where all starring together in the upcoming movie Soul Men.

Humm , Look out Samuel !
Let's just say Ledger was the first of the three and it's done!

Samuel L. Jackson is in the hospital or was after he rolled a car he was driving in Mississippi last week. If that crash had been worse that would have made some people think, all three in the same movie dying in the same week.

I had a death of someone this weekend. I actually had just written of him in the forum too. My building super who I got to buy the seesnake micro drown this weekend while diving for abalone off the coast of Mendocino. He was also my upstairs neighbor so I saw him pretty often.
It is a shock. He was fairly young--probably in his late forties or early fifties. Very decent guy.
I hope that's the third.
RIP Craig.

I'm sorry to read about the loss of your good friend. It seems far too many good people are dieing way too young.

drtyhands,
Slowing down is probably a good thing. On their death bed no one has ever said, "I wish I had worked more."
