Saltless water softener

my neighbor friend is looking into getting a water softener and was asking me about this saltfree, non backwashing softener.

is anyone familiar with this system?

yea or nay?

any other suggestions?

i think his main concern is spotting on the clear glass of their shower.

not sure what the hardness is, as i have the same water they have.

I've installed a few no salt systems, far as my testing has shown they don't work. The test kits (2) I use still show the water as hard. The WQA stamp as shown on the website looks good but WQA doesn't vouch for the softening capabilities just that the housing and such meets industry standards. I've done primitive field tests on magnet/catalytic systems, same negative results. I really think if these types of systems truely "softened" the water it would be front page news. So for now sodium systems for my customers. Potassium may be whats down the road if big brother gets thier way.

I've heard that some magnet/catalytic systems work on closed loop systems but no first hand knowledge.

By the way odered a K-60 today so be ready for ? my K-60 guru:D

What a coincidence.That puts two K-60s on the road.Mine should be at the front door in a few days.

vince, the model you linked is a filter/ purifier. not a softener.

he would like the softener to keep water from spotting on his glass.


after doing a little reading, i agree that it looks like snake oil:eek:
