What's the appeal of facebook?

I looked at someones profile that I knew and after reading about them and seeing their friends list, I ran out of things to do.

What am I missing?

You get to flirt with your high school girlfriend through private messages without your wife finding out

but I wouldn't know about that

You get to be tormented by Joey on more than one place.

Yeah, that is the bad part. Those boys that you walked away from make you turn and look back. Crack, you know how it is:smack-head:

Yeah, this is how it goes.

I banned Facebook at work after I saw all kinds of scripts originating from the website and attempting to "bounce" around the network. Unless you use Linux, or Mac (at least for now) it's simply too risky.

Facebook sure did make its members unhappy this past week. The furor was over its terms of service (TOS). It made changes regarding irrevocable ownership and use rights (that's a very brief explanation) – and folks exploded. Facebook quickly changed back to their old TOS, but frankly it's not much better.

Facebook isn't the only website with a crazy, lopsided TOS. Essentially, if you post something on any site, it belongs to them and they can do with it what they wish – forever!

This kind of TOS is not uncommon but people using those services do not realize that until it hits them. People simply click that "I Agree" button without reading what it is they agree to.

A few years ago Microsoft had similar TOS on their hotmail. For liability reasons users retained ownership of anything that went through Microsoft's servers (say, if you emailed some illegal stuff to someone) but MS had the right do do whatever they wanted with the content of any email sent via MSN or hotmail, for instance if you exchanged patent ideas.

It's a hostile world out there folks. Make sure that those smiles on some of those "free" websites don;t come back to bit you where you sit.

Yeh, I was flirting with two of my old high school girls friends hoping their husbands and my wife would not find out. Turns out my wife was flirting with one of them also. :rotflmao: Now, neither the old girlfriend nor wife will speak to me. I may be better off! Thanks, David

I've found facebook somewhat useful for our boat club. I don't find it useful for plumbing.
Crack, don't trust the "recent" photos of those old girlfriends. In my experiences they wind up being as big as Macy's parade baloons:eek:
