I just bought a new BS1400 bandsaw. The first thing I noticed is that is no longer comes with the sanding accessory. I tried to find it on the Ridgid site. I found it but there were no prices for any of the accessories. Also I have a question about the blade tension guage. What exactly should be lined up with the blade size... the silver springs, the top of the black piece below the springs, the bottom of the black piece? Any help would be appreciated.

I bought mine last year and it had the sanding attachment, but I have never used it. I installed the riser on my saw. The one I have has a red mark that indicates the tension for each blade width. There should be a section in your asembly manual that will show what to line up

The saw has indicators for each size blade but mine (nor the one at HD) has any indicator mark. Where is the red mark on yours in relation to the black piece below the silver springs? Thanks for the note about the sanding strip.. I thought I had imagined that. Did you have to get longer blades when you bought the riser block?

Tom, I guess the black piece your refering to is the red one on my saw. Yes, the blades are longer by about 12". The riser lets me resaw wide boards and cut logs into lumber.

the washer below the spring (red or Black) usually is aligned with the cast size indicator on the housing. The adjustment isn't that fine fine that you need to worry. With a little time you will make the adjustment without looking at it. Various blades will indicate they work best with lower tension. I go by sound when I click the blade with my finger nail. No I don't know what note. Blade guide alignment is far more important.

Woodndust does it the same as myself.
I tap the blade with a finger on one hand, while I tighten the adjustment with the other.

Alot of experience will give you knowledge on different tensions for different woods, thickness, radius cuts, plys, blade width, etc.

As a rule, I get the high E note similar to the guitar.
