Heres the deal.

I have a 2001 home with the original Moen shower faucet.

I had a steady drip from the shower head so I replaced the cartridge.

$39 later the drip is gone....and so is my hot water. On full Hot I have very diminished pressure and "warm" water.
The water is HOT everywhere else in my house. This is the closest bath to the water heater.

Pressure is good to 1/2 throttle then diminishes toward hot water.

Try rotating cartridge shaft half a turn. Then try it.

I am no plumber, but my vote goes to the gentleman from California. Musta slipped/turned during installation.

So use some plumbers grease when you put it all back nice
...then the $15 goes too.......?????

Well the cartridge can only go in one way. Its kinda fool proof with a tab at the "TOP" of the cartridge and the pipe which only allows the piece to go in one way.

Where are the experts?.....LOL:smack-head:

If it is from 2001 it probably is a moen pressure balanced cartridge, any chance that the temp limit stop was not put back to the original position?
I don't think that the cartridge is backwards since the OP said that is was good til half way mixed.

I have seen bad or stuck PB spools.

Please keep us posted.

Is the diameter of your cartridge the size of a cheap hot dog or a deluxe polish sausage. This may give us an idea of your valve body.

Easy on the big $15 paycheck Rockefeller, wouldn't want to offend anyone. If I'm giving advice, I would've done it for free. Pick up the phone and pay someone to fix it.

Take the limit stop parts off, put them in a plastic bag and throw it in your junk drawer!

Had to fix a brand new moen faucet once that had a bad balancing spool. Same symptoms.

I would say chances are a peice of rubber from the old cartridge is stuck in the hot side inlet, that is the most common diy mistake i have ever seen.

Rombo,

As stated, I'm not a plumber, but I agree with you (doesn't mean anything because I've agreed with all the posts) sounds like a prior gasket, seal or other item left over from the prior cartridge. Hope they post the fix when it's done so we'll know.

Not sure of the model but there are some valves that have a small piece of plastic with gears on it that will limit the tempature going to that faucet this is right on the front just make sure that the notch is facing up to match the chrome sleve comming out of the escussion
