Hello,
I've got a Freud box joint saw blade set (two blades for making 1/4 or 3/8 box joints depending on blade orientation)... any reason why I can't also use these blades for making 1/4 and 3/8" dado's?

No reason at all that I can think of.
How do you like the box joint blades compared to a dado set for making box joints?

I actually haven't used a dado set for making box joints before, so I can't compare.
I need to make some drawers, and wanted to try box jointing them, so I picked up these blades. I know I'll eventually get a stacked dado set, but I didn't want to put the money down just yet.

I bought the Oshlun set -- same blade setup -- primarily for dado and rabbett work. It works great and leaves a perfectly flat bottom cut. I haven't used the set for box joints yet, but I think it will be much nicer than using the dado set.
