New member here and was directed to this site by a person who asked if I like Ridgid tool?
I guess this photo will answer that question. Second photo is a little change in my shop - about 6 months later that the first photo was taken.http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b36/larryschwager/DSCF0309.jpg

I guess the answer is no. Looks like you haven't bought any in a while :)

The funny thing about all the tools that you see in the shop - is the fact that they all were purchased in 2000 - when I bought this home we are now in - they sat in boxes until 2006 when I retired and built my shop. So in use they are all pretty new - but dated by color. And heck they all work great so no need to replace with a new color. (Wife is looking over my shoulder - had to say that.)

I was only joking, I'm jealous, obviously :)
Interesting how the tool designs evolve. The table saw is clearly the same as the recently discontinued 3660, but the stand is different and so are the extensions.
Do you mind me asking how much you paid for the table saw in 2000? (If you can remember). I'm curious if it's like computers. A good, branded computer would have cost you the same in dollars 10 years ago as it would today, but the design would have evolved.

Roadster - I know - I saw that little smile - although maybe a bright orange would brighten up the shop...:clapping: Cost of the table saw - man - let me go look and see if I have the bill - always keep the bill attached to the manual - cost in 2000 was $595 plus tax. I really have no idea what the cost of a new one is now and I am sure that changes have been made to improved the units. But this unit cuts so very straight with a good blade and I am very surprised that the fence works so well - everything on all machines needs to be tuned up once in a while and they will do their part - if we do ours.
Also I had to learn all the functions of the tools. Other than selling lumber and home products as a floor manager of a lumber yard - I never did any wood working at all. Then the next 21 years was spent as a police officer - when retiring - my thoughts were man - I carried a weapon for 21 years - what now - so I went from a Glock to a Hammer. Summer filled with all sorts of outdoors things and those cold winter days - I spend in my shop - and as woodworking is new to me - everything is a new learning experience - which is good as you do not get bored. And one thing about measuring lumber - someone keeps moving my measuring tape - seems like its - measure twice - cut three times.
Great Shop... Looks like you could host your own show in there.
Welcome to the forum.

LarrySch,
Welcome to the forum.
I love your shop, lots of room and the tools look great. I bought one of the "gray" 1550 drill presses back in 2003 and only got it set up last year, so I know how hard that must of been on you... having all those great tools, sitting in their boxes, waiting for the time when you could put it all together.
Thanks for posting,
CWS

Looks great. Mine looks pretty much the same except I have less tools, and it's messier. and less lighting. One question - What is that black thing next to the table saw? It looks like a shop vac with a muffler but I'm not certain.

Or something more up to date like the 2009/2010 calander?
If you want to get a autographed copy of the new calander, this looks like the place.

Wow! Who wouldn't love to have a shop like that? I have a serious case of "Shop Envy" but one question. Where is the sawdust? I could use some tips on "Cleanliness is Next to Godliness!" as my High School Coach used to say.

At least sprinkle a little saw here and there!!!!!!!!!!!I have this real problem - I am a neat freak - I think it is a disorder of some kind - I will cut something on my table saw - get the vacuum out - and clean everything up - then 15 minutes later - will cut something else on the table saw and have another mess and go through the same process. I am trying really hard to get over that - and not clean up until the end of the day or when the project is done - I think I probably have a least a cup full of saw dust somewhere in the shop - *sigh* - then again - maybe not. :smack-head: The disorder has to be related to the job I held over the past 21 years. At least that is my excuse and I am sticking to it.

Larry,
Good to see you here!
You know I've always loved that shop you set up. But after all this time, I just noticed...
You have a Jet air cleaner, and what looks like a Harbor Freight 1HP dust collector (by the jointer). Now you know you really shouldn't break up the perfect set of Ridgid tools. How about sending those over to me? I can use the air cleaner, and I know a couple of guys that can use that little DC...
By the way, what band saw fence is that? Sure looks a lot more solid than the POS Craftsman Professional fence I put on my band saw...

Larrysch, beautiful shop! As far as the color goes, I have not heard yet that it has a bearing on how much sawdust you make.

dbhost - thanks - I do make it around to a few woodworking sites - well as far as the Jet filtration system - that was a gift from the wife (not sure if she wanted to save my lungs or have it drop on my head - judgment is still out on that one - and the 1 HP dust collector is a Grizzly - on the fence on the band saw - that also is from Grizzly - and is built really well and really does its job - it either lays flat or stands up like the photo shows - and works rather well for re-sawing boards down to thinner thicknesses. Its funny - I can go out there and spend all day - on the cold wintery days - not do a thing - and come back into the house totally satified at being in my shop. I hope the rest of you also have that enjoyment.

I'm only getting back into it after many years away, but I find it's good to get away from my "home business" stresses.
I have a running gag with my wife where I come up from the shop at the end of the day, act like I just remembered something important and say "CRAP! You know what I forgot while I was down in the woodshop?" She feigns along and asks "what?" and I reply "Everything!" with a smile! :D
Many years ago, when I smoked, being in the woodshop was the only time where it would suddenly occur to me "I haven't had a smoke all afternoon, and hadn't even noticed".

Larry,
That is one awesome shop :clapping::clapping:
I'm finally getting around to setting mine up too, though I've had the building up since 1991  . It will never be as impressive as yours, as I have about 1/4 of it (15' X 24') closed off so I can heat that area and use it in the Winter. All the big tools are on wheels, so I "make do" during the cold months. Do you heat that whole thing in the Winter?
If you don't mind me asking, what part of So. ID are you in? I was raised on a farm North of Rupert and still go by every 10 years or so to see a few folks.

Cool Larry. The first house I ever bought was in Twin, 1970. I have some fond memories of those days. Last time I looked, that town had changed a lot.

I know this is an older post, but I wanted to bring it back out.
So, have you had a chance to use the shop and what have you made? Pictures, man, we would LOVE to see what you've made so far!

I bought lots of rigid tools too and the last purchase was a barely used planer. I requested the a missing part through rigid. two days later I got a canned email back with a list of excuses why they can't repond to an email in a timely manor. two days after that I get an email from "no reply" asking to log into their site for a message? I can't log back in and I can't reply to the email they sent it from. I am extremely dissapointed that I can't get parts in a timely manor and Home depot where I bought it gave me the part number but said they don't sell parts and I need to contact rigid. My next tool purchase will not be an orange tool.
Phil
Why don't you list the part number here. I bet I can find it for you as quickly as you could complain about how slow they are.
Here is a good place to start.
