table saw top

My table saw top rusted this winter while stored inside my garage. never done that before........any ideas on how to remove rust? Wire bruch ok? and how do I keep it from happening again? Thanks!

this topic has been discussed many times in this forum. do a search on table saw rust and you should get more than enough threads. simplest spproach is one of the commercial products or wd-40 with a scotch brite pad. once all the rust is gone, wax with a paste wax like johnson's paste wax. stay away from automotive waxes as they contain silicone which can adversely affect the surface of stain grade woods. good luck.
