Do I? I use VLC to look at movies, itunes for music and cannon for pictures. Why should I keep this program on my computer?

I use it all the time to watch movies. I'll drop it if VLC is betterer.

BTW...what's VLC?

I see a lot of movies from hard drives and often you need a codec to view them but VLC player plays them all without the codec. I'm on the move so carrying a hard drive is easier than carrying 500 dvds. You won't miss this program if you use dvds

As much as I am not a fan of Microsoft, their Media Player is not so bad, except for the limited CODECs. This can be fixed with ffdshow (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow).

vlc is cool. I use Totem Video Player in Linux and it works great with all the codecs;)

The Windows 7 media player is supposed to have better codec support, but it's not any better than VLC. It's a much better program, works pretty much exactly the same regardless if you use windows, linux, or the mac version of it.
