I have a 40yo 3 valve diverter for tub/shower. Docorative handles/sleeves are very corroded. Also when turn on cold water, water leaks out around handle. And does not turn tub spout completely off with full shower diversion. I have been able to remove handle and what I presume is the packing nut and lock nut. The valve stem is loose and freely movable in all directions, but not out. Seems like something is in front preventing it from coming out. How do I remove it? Also I cannot remove the decorative sleeve, is it bolted in? Crumples with vice and ccw turning. Lastly will I need to replace valve seats as well? Thanks for your help.
