Senario: You are working on an automotive a/c system. You know the refrigerant type, but there is no refrigerant nameplate info regarding how much refrigerant the system needs. You know to charge it to a 40 degree evaporator, but at what rpm do you need to maintain when charging it (that is of course if the vehicle has a tachometer)? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Haynes has an automotive A/C manual that has a section on capacities by vehicle type. You could contact a dealer and ask them what the system capacity is also.

If you are charging an empty system, put the required amount of refrigerant in the system and you're done.
