I've seen several post on router table extensions and they've all been some type of wood. (mdf, plywood, etc). But what do people think about a cast iron extension wing? Too heavy on the rails? Woodworking supply near me has one on sale and it's about as cheap as I can make one myself. Link to it is posted below. Would love to hear others thoughts.
Thanks

What saw are you attaching it to?
I wouldnt think it would be too bad on the rails, especially if you are also able to bolt it to the factory saw top/extension wing. Not possible in the case of the 4511 granite top, but pretty easily doable on a cast iron saw (because you can drill holes in the cast iron wing to put bolts thru)

I have an eye out for the Grizzly h7507 Cast Iron Extension. I like the fact that is doesn't have those fence mount slots, the T slot or that oversized Router plate. I have no use for them. I like the fact that it includes two leg supports, I plan on using it to fill the gap on the right side of my TS3650
It's on back order right now, been waiting since early April.

12" or 18"?
A solid slab or perforated?
Did it have the cutout to accept a router from underneath?
that's how much Grizzly is charging me just to ship theirs to me!
I am not sure if their still selling them. Mine is 12" x 27" with a router cutout, and a rib system underneath for mounting the router.
